SIGNAL CLEVELAND: Resident-led Push Transforms Storer Park
Signal Cleveland recently highlighted the inspiring work of Stockyards resident Betty Jo Palmer, whose vision and leadership sparked the transformation of Storer Park. With early support from a grant through Building Hope in the City, Betty Jo launched the “Light Up the Park” initiative in 2021, rallying neighbors to reimagine and reclaim the neglected baseball field. Her persistence drew broader attention and funding, ultimately leading to a $350,000 investment from the City of Cleveland to renovate the park. Today, thanks to her commitment, Storer Park has been reborn with a playground, pavilion, walking path, and new lighting—a true testament to the power of resident-led change.
